I thought this magic set would be something new that Criss Angel created especially for us but it is old stuff in a new package. A lot of these tricks have been around for over 40 years and are the same tricks that have been included in most magic sets in the last 40 years. I learned most of these when I was 13 years old. Other magic sets in the past have had these props plus more including the multiplying billiard balls, the water lota, rice bowls etc. The dvd was no help in learning these tricks as there was no talking, only visual demos. I don't think Criss Angel had much to do with creating the dvd as he didn't talk on it. A person would do better to buy Lydia Darbyshire's "The Magic Book" which explains most of these prop tricks. Lydia's book is hard bound, it has beautiful instructional photos and glossy pages of nice print and makes it easy to learn tricks. And there are many more in the book that are on a professional level but simple to learn. This set could be difficult for pre teens and some teens to learn from the dvd.

I got the Platinum version with DVD no extras $29 and familiar with basic tricks I found that you get that exact value and not a dollar more with this kit. Many of these items could be purchased individually or as a pack of 3 at a dollar store. I read reviews that said that this was a cut above most starter kits, but I did not find this to be the case. It just capitalizes on his name with some of the basic items. There are some inexpensive tricks that are forgotten or rare like the glass pole that makes certain words look backwards or the baseball player card which catches a "forced" card. This was the type of freshness I exppected from this kit, but did not get.

I bought this for my 8 year old son. He loves Criss Angel and I thought this would be a perfect gift. He has enjoyed this greatly. He has some trouble with the DVD catching on and I have to read the book because he has trouble with it. IT is a great product. I only wish I had upgraded to the higher set for the included Levitation DVD.

this kit is great for first magic kit purchases. if you are an advanced magician dont be fooled by Criss Angels name on the front. most of the tricks are classics like the pen through glass, nails through a coin and cups and balls tricks. a great kit for beginners. i have been doing magic for a long time and i really like criss angel. it was not as good as i expected but if this is your first magic kit definitely buy it. i hope this review was helpful

I bought for my son, some tricks are very simple, some are funny and some are very interesting. the material are pour but if you want to have fun on Sunday afternoons with your family, I recommend...
